Top 5 Summer Must Haves

With Summer just around the corner (yes, we are still in Spring, for those who may have forgot with the weird weather we get in Chicago), I thought it would be appropriate to kick off the month-long hiatus with some awesome products and strains that I have been really loving and think they would be perfect for those hot summer days! These are coming at ya in no particular order or fashion. Please medicate responsibly! I always tell the cannabis patients I see to start small and go from there, especially when it is coming to edibles! 

First up on the list is the Vanilla Chai Bar from Kiva Confections and manufactured by Cresco Labs. I couldn't help but pair this bar with an Iced Chai Tea Latte; it made for the perfect combo with that added flavor of milk chocolate! The bar is a full size 100mg chocolate bar that you can break down into mini 5mg chocolate squares. I love that Kiva Confections makes it easy for patients to micro-dose and know the exact amount of THC they will be ingesting. I suggest starting with two 5mg squares (10mg in total) if you are new to edibles. As the same goes for anything that you eat, give time for your body to digest the medicated chocolate. If you don't feel any effects, have two more try another dose (two 5mg squares)! I never recommend eating a whole bar in one sitting as you may want to sleep the rest of your summer day away, and that is not the intent for this. (Unless you are in immense pain and need a relief to cool down and take a nap, that is the only time I recommend ingesting more than 20mg of THC with the Vanilla Chai bar.) Kiva Confections is originally from California with a research team that spent countless time creating the perfect product that has become known for its potency, taste, and eye-catching packaging. Kiva is also known for their award for Best Edible at the San Francisco and LA High Times Cannabis Cup in 2013. Today, patients are able to enjoy Kiva Confection products in California, Illinois, Arizona, and Nevada. 

Next up for Summer Must Haves that I recommend giving a try, is the strain Pheno 51 grown by Cresco Labs. Originally named Space Camp Kush, this flower is a happy hybrid with genetics from Starkiller and Skywalker OG. 
Pheno 51 Hybrid 26.65% THCA | 0.70% CBD. Put on your space gear because this strain is going to shoot you right into the galaxy. With its punguent odor of alpha-pinene it promotes alertness which makes for a wonderful head buzz to get you through a busy summer day or get those creative vibes flowing for all of your projects. Alpha-pinene also has anti-inflammitory benefits to ease your pain and bronchodilation, which helps with airflow to the lungs. This strain is amazing to take with on long hikes and to use during a meditative session. 

Third on the list for Summer Must Haves are the 100mg infused RSO Green Grape Gummies by Illinois' very own award-winning pastry chef, Mindy Segal of Mindy's Kitchen (Edibles), and manufactured by Cresco Labs. These are awesome because, just like the Vanilla Chai Bar, you get to decide how much THC goes into your system by micro-dosing with these gummies. The package comes with ten pre-packaged gummies. Each gummy is infused with 10mg of a hybrid strain of RSO. Rick Simpson Oil (RSO) is another extraction of the cannabis plant, only this time, it is done in a way to grab all of the plant's cannabinoids and make for an extremely potent product. You can learn more about RSO here: Who is Rick Simpson and What is Rick Simpson Oil (RSO)? I loved these gummies because they gave me that perfect feeling of euphoria, and a little bit of a sugar rush that is needed on a summer day. Especially for summer festivals and parties, these are a perfect way to medicate and stay discreet. Not to mention these are gluten-free and vegetarian friendly so everyone on the spectrum gets to enjoy these! 

The last two products I have on the list are considered, in my opinion, from top shelf cultivators: Ataraxia and Revolution Cannabis. Both cultivators continually produce clean and effective medicine that the cannabis patients I consult with come back for on a daily basis. I chose these next two products based on their exceptional quality and amazing taste!
Grand Doggy Purps Sunrock Shatter Indica Dominant Hybrid 81.51% THC | 1.61% CBD. I had to include some form of concentrate on this Summer Must Haves list because it is genuinely a favorite of mine! The Grand Doggy Purps from Ataraxia is a true shatter consistency. A little fire from your lighter to your dabber should do the trick to slice through the shatter like butter. With it being a "sunrock" and having the golden hues of a ray of sunshine, this strain is perfect to enjoy on a chill summer day. Hanging out on the lake front and enjoying the flavor through a wax pen is ideal for this strain! Grand Doggy Purps is a cross between Granddaddy Purple and Chemdawg D. It makes for a great cerebral high and promotes productivity to keep you active. On the exhale, it has a wonderful grape taste. Ataraxia is one of my favorite names for a cultivation site because it is Greek for "untroubled" and that is exactly how Grand Doggy Purps makes me feel!

Last but not least on the list of Top 5 Summer Must Haves is the Clementine Cooler Surp drink from Spring Lake Craft Infusions and manufactured by Revolution Cannabis. Don't be fooled by the size of the mini bottle as this 100mg flavored surp packs a punch!  It has a sweet candy flavor when you try it alone, but it is best mixed with a drink to enjoy the taste! I recommend micro dosing with the surp if you are new to cannabis. Measuring out one teaspoon gives the desired 10mg micro-dose. I paired my Clementine Cooler Surp with some strawberry lemonade and it made for the perfect drink to enjoy during a BBQ! Enjoying the surp with your desired drink is a great stress reliever at the end of the day, as you can physically feel all of your worries and cares melt away.
