I don’t know about you, but on most days, my to-do list is always full. Sometimes I question if there are enough hours in the day to complete these tasks. Work stress can be difficult to manage, especially when there are so many demands. Every month I have in my calendar to sit down for 30 minutes and create my Health Habit Wheel. Here is how it works:
1. What is a Healthy Habit Wheel? The Health Habit Wheel looks like a target. It is a total of four circle. Each circle is represented by daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly tasks. Now these are not just any tasks, these are things that I want to do that I know will bring down my stress level. I fill out the wheel each month and place it on my mirror as a daily reminder. 2. How Does it Work? So each month, I sit down and write what I will do in each of the represented circles. I like to save my wheels from previous months because usually the yearly and monthly tasks don’t change too much. So for example, this month, every day I will be meditating. Could be two minutes, could be 30 minutes. Regardless, this is a task that I do everyday this month to decrease my stress. Each week, I will make sure to schedule at least one tennis match. For me, tennis is a great sport. I get to play with a variety of skill level players who are all down to earth. Add bonus… great exercise. 3. How Does it Help Me? Here’s the thing… we all have this grand plans of relaxation but we rarely put it into practice and make it a reality. By physically creating this wheel, I remind myself of ways that I like to destress and set plans in motion to see them through. For me, having a tangible activity like this one is better for me than keeping it stored in my mind. And, as mentioned before, I like to put the wheel on my mirror so every morning I see it and it reminds me of what I need to do. Here’s mind for July! Let’s keep the conversation going!
