I don’t know about you, but I am always looking up new and improved ways to better myself. Whether it is a self-help book or a new food plan to follow. Most recently, I wanted to start finding new ways to feel more refreshed in the mornings. I wanted to wake up everyday (or most days) ready to start the day and having a positive outlook. Here are a few suggestions I’ve found to help meet that goal. 1. Morning Stretches/Yoga Okay, so you are not the yoga type. This is not a full on, 15 minute yoga video that I am asking you to follow. Because believe me, I tried that. It turns out I have no idea what the pose is and then when I look up at the screen to see how they are doing it, I’ve missed it completely. Frustrating. Instead, I wake up to and complete a few stretches. What’s nice about these stretches is they flow into each other. It takes one minute tops! Check out more stretches on my Pinterest Board: Sun Salutations 2. Set Your Alarm For most of you, setting your alarm is something that you do already. For others, you sleep in, starting your day off later than others. In either case, set your alarm. I set my alarm ½ hour before I should wake up. I set another alarm at the actual time I need to wake up. I find that the first alarm wakes me up just enough. By the time the second alarm goes off, I feel refreshed. Yes, I do go back to sleep in between each alarm but, I do find I am more awake as the second alarm goes off compared to the first. 3. Complete One Routine as Soon as You Get Up I find that completing one routine or one task as soon as you wake up helps start the day. Yes, pouring a cup of coffee is a must but I also recommend completing a different routine. For example, you could brush your teeth the moment you get up. You could jump in the shower as soon as you wake. Or if you are feeling really ambitious, put on your gym clothes and go to the gym. Completing this one task helps you get moving and feel refreshed. My Take Away….. Waking up in the morning can be easy for some and really hard for others. I’m an in-betweener. I suggest setting two alarms ½ in between of each other which helps the waking up process. I also recommend complete a task and stretching lightly. Don’t forget your coffee and few positive affirmations! Let’s keep the conversation going. How do you energize your morning?
