What am empowering title, if I do say so myself! Be the One Who Decides to Go For It! It reminds me of this Secret Deodorant commercial where a twenty something girl is standing in the bathroom pumping herself up to ask for a promotion. She doesn’t realize that there is an older coworker in the bathroom with her until this coworker comes out to wash her hands. she says sternly, “Just do it.” And off they go.
As I was writing this blog, I wondered what holds us back from going for it? Is it a self-esteem thing? Is it a comfortable where I’m at thing? My guess is that it is different for each one of us. Here’s a little inspiration to help you Go For It: Go in blindly and trust I think for a lot of us we say, “Oh, I’ll get to that when I ______ (fill in the blank).” Like we have to have certain things lined up in order to do what our gut is telling us to do. So why can’t we just go for it? Why do we feel the need to cross our t’s and dot our i’s before we plunge in? My guess is going for it causes anxiety. And what do we do when we have anxiety? We feel the need to control. Did the light bulb just go on? Are you trying to maintain controlling? Here’s my solution: Go in blindly and trust. Yep, do the free fall. This is probably the hardest concept for me to grasp. Yeah right, like I want to free fall. That’s not safe. Why would I do that?! My gut has been telling me to act on a very significant move for over 10 years. 10 years!! And I’ve always found this reason or that excuse as to why I can’t move forward. Two weeks ago, I hit the button. I pulled the trigger. I went for it. And you know what? It sucked for the first week. I had panic attacks. My anxiety spiked to an ultimate 10. But now, I am at peace. I tried to control my life for 10 years to avoid having a week of anxiety and now I feel at the most amount of peace. What a concept. Take away… Hopefully you know what the take away is from this blog. If not, it’s very simple. Go For It! Trust. Listen to your gut and just do it. Don't avoid like I did for 10+ years. Don’t try to control your life. When you go in that direction, the direction of control, all you’re doing is jumping over hurtles. Be the One Who Decides to Go For It. Let’s keep the conversation going. Share what happened when you decided to go for it. How did you feel and what were the outcomes?
