Medical Cannabis

In the summer of 2016, Illinois approved Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) as a condition that meets qualifications for a Medical Card. This Medical Card allows individuals in Illinois to legally use medical marijuana.
What is Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)?
Those with PTSD show similar symptoms as those struggling with other forms of anxiety - panic attacks, fear of dying, isolation, anger, low self-esteem, depressed moods, and low motivation. With PTSD, sleep is another common complaint (insomnia, restlessness, difficulty falling back to sleep).
Can Medical Cannabis Help With PTSD?
Many individuals are finding little to no change in symptoms with prescription medications. Plus, these medications come with many side effects. We are finding that medical cannabis is not only helping with symptoms, including sleep, but also has little side effects since it is a natural substance.
Changing the Social Stigma...
Did you know there are many ways to absorb marijuana: lotion, vapor, and cooking foods (like butter)? It is great to tell patients that there is now a way to treat symptoms, which involves putting on lotion at night (for example) and never having to smoke cannabis if you do not want to.
If you have any questions about the process, please feel free to email us at [email protected] or call (630) 506-1491.
